Soon Hao and the Shanghai Kid..

I had dinner with two new friends this evening. It’s quite a random story, but I love it..

Less than a week ago I received a comment on a photo on ‘instagram’ from someone saying that I should play a show in Singapore. Little did they know I had a show booked in Singapore only a few days later, so I informed them of this. Soon Hao is his name and his friend Shanghai had given him a CD with one of my songs on it, which he liked enough to track me down on ‘instagram’ and invite me to Singapore :) Shanghai had been given the CD by a friend from Albany in Western Australia who had put their favourite songs on disc for Shanghai. So Soon Hao and Shanghai came to the show on Sunday and we met and chatted and hung out for a bit then we ended up having dinner tonight and talking about music, photography, homelands and life in general. They are two lovely human beings who I absolutely loved spending time with and I am so amazed at how we connected.

This is why I love life so much. Here’s to Soon Hao and the Shanghai Kid :)

lickingthingsandexpressingvision asked: Hello, my name is Gabby, I go to a performing arts school and I just wanted to let you know that your music is an inspiration to me. You have an amazing voice, I wish I could sing like you. I'm jealous that you have to power to write your own songs and say your own things for people to listen to. If I could do that and have people like what I said... It's awesome. I write music in my freetime. I just can't sing. I enjoy every word you sing. Your art is beautiful.

hello gabbbbbbby! thank you for your very kind words. who says you can’t sing? keep writing and playing and doing things and see where it takes you :) that’s pretty much all i have ever done.

graveyardetiquette asked: Thank you for creating such beautiful music - it keeps me sane! You are incredibly talented (and appreciated just as much), and I cannot wait for more. I also fully support any endeavours to grow your hair and beard back... your short hair is great, but hey.. long hair requires far less visits to the hairdressers :)

i hope my music isn’t the only thing that keeps you sane… :) i’m considering growing the hair/beard combo again, but am unsure. we’ll see..

nosubstitute-for-time asked: Wooo you're awesome. I've seen you a couple of times now with Mike. Your voice is lovely :) Have you been touring with him this whole time?

youare.

ps thanks.

pps mike and i have travelled most of the last year together.

ppps i like it. a lot.

Anonymous asked: I just imagined you saying(yelling) KONNICHIWA, whilst waving profusely and with a giant creepy smile on your face. Oh my goodness I'm still laughing

I DO THIS EVERY DAY. PRETTY MUCH.

Anonymous asked: What type of camera do you have?

a canon 550D with some old lenses off a film camera and a new little 50mm fixed lens too.. f1.8.. i really like it :)

Anonymous asked: Do you have a Scandinavian background?

indeed i do :) the larsen clan came from denmark a few generations ago.. and i’m going to visit denmark for the first time next month! maybe i’ll feel like i’ve found my home?
